The Sample Sale-
So Danie and I made our way up to Great Portland Street at 10am yesterday morning, which by the way wasn't early enough and we ended up queuing for an hour and a half. But finally we got in, and among the other jumble of 16-18 year old girls, we started to fling through what looked like my room, a floordrobe. Due to the lack of changing rooms, it was a complete madness, but we searched and eventually found a few items we wanted. I did mean to take pictures when I was there but it was too busy and small, and taking pictures of semi naked girls wasn't really what I set out to do. So alas, no pictures of the actual sale, but take my word for it, if you've been to a Kilo Sale before, that's what it looked like.

Anyway, another faux-pas I made was wearing this above outfit... When there aren't any fitting rooms, and only one mirror, wearing an oversized tee with tights was extremely inconvenient. If I had any sense, I would have worn jeans/leggins with a vest, easy changing, no nudity. Alas, no. But anyway, re-discovering this tee was the best moment of my winter, I am aware it's technically summer, but I was cold. And ye, it is lined with fleece, so basically it is perfect. Trainers, standard. Plaits, obviously and hoops, well I didn't want to let Vicky Pollard down. My dog, Archie, decided to get in loads of these pictures... so I decided to dress him up, but he slyly loved it anyway.

The Jacket-
SO
As well as the Motel Rocks Sample Sale, they had a 'Pop-Up' Vintage Shop going on too. This is where I found this jacket, and it was dirt cheap. They had some gorgeous playsuits in reds and purples, but I'm not really the playsuit type so just stuck with the jacket. Denim Jackets are one of those things that never seem to go out of fashion, whether they're tight and small or over-sized like this one. So I basically decided 'why not' and got it. As a girl notorious for 'borrowing' people's clothes, I can't mind when people borrow mine back, however after showing this "unisex" jacket to my Dad, he's decided he likes it and will borrow it... so he will continue to rock the double denim combinations that he is so fond of, good.

But hey! Good news, the sale does actually continue today so if you didn't get a chance to go today and decide that revision just isn't worth the hassle, pop down it's open till 7pm.

Mom Jeans and a Bandana

Mom Jeans - Topshop - here
Cami - H&M
Socks - Lamoda - here
Trainers - Reebok Classics
Earings - Market in Spain
Bandana - No idea
Belt - Ditto above
Scrunchie - DIY

Went a bit wild on the editing here, but this is my everyday styling of my Mom Jeans. And here I am... sat on my roof, everyday things. You cant really go wrong with a plain black cami, if i had a plain black leotard I would probably wear that instead but either work. I've found with these sorts of jeans, that the most flattering way to wear them is to wear a plain tight top tucked in, anything loose makes you look bigger and although crop tops sort of work, they would possibly look much better on a much taller, skinnier girl.

These socks are so pretty, and probably the most feminine bit of the outfit, only £1 from La Moda! But I am almost certain you can get them from ebay for the same price. I actually added the lace hem myself, but that's also personal preference. The combination of baggy jeans and fishnets is one I am a big fan of, especially if the jeans are ripped, and I am currently on the look out for a pair like that. I know Topshop do this a pair of boyfriend style jeans (here) but they aren't high waisted enough for me, so if you are aware of any pairs like that Topshop pair comment on this post with a link and I shall love you forever.

Hair-wise, I wear french plaits basically everyday as it's a skill I can do on myself and as a curly haired girl its an amazing way to tame the beast on top of my head. My hair was actually just washed which is why it looks wet, don't judge, that isn't grease! The bandanna was more a fun way to spice up my plaits, not sure if I can actually pull it off, so might just leave that for the blog post. I feel like Lizzie's cousins, (if you know you know)

Oh, and If I am able to set it up, I will post a tutorial on how to 'French Plait' your own hair as its something I have been asked for, I just haven't worked out how to do it yet. (so stay peeled for that.)

Hope you enjoyed this, ta ra!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

They have the cutest things ever, here's a few I liked:

I love this, I feel like is it a family, is it an extremely modern relationship senario? We will never know.
These next two are prefect for summer, very 'cutesy' and whatnot, the rings remind me so much of those elastic band animals that everyone was obsessed with a while ago... and I can't lie, I still own loads so I am especially loving these.

These are just a few examples of what sort of name necklaces/cake tops etc you can order. I like how simple they are and that you can pick your own font, size, colour etc. Makes them much more personal... personalised accessories, if you know what I mean.

Good luck!

How To - Winged Eyeliner Cheat

So this is just a bit of a quickie tutorial post...
Thought I'd share my ja'mazing cheat on how to get matching winged eyeliner. I also am a victim of the un-matching flicks, where the first one you do will seriously bang and then you just can't match the other and it turns into one big mess of Amy Winehouse eyes.
So to avoid that tragedy, I have made up this extremely easy way to sort it, or at least I think I've made it up but whatever.
In advance, I did not sort my face for this, so excuse eyebrows and dark circles. It's exam period and I am allowed to look gross.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Eyeliner - any type, kohl, gel, pen liner etc
  • post it notes or sellotape, or if you have micro-tape that will work perfectly
  • your face
So, these are the two eyeliners I own; the first, obviously clinque, is a gel liner in dark brown and an angle brow brush for application, you can also use a bent liner brush but I find this quicker. Oh and top tip, it helps if you dampen the brush beforehand so you can get a clean line (something I may or may not have learnt from the film Burlesque) The second liner is a Topshop black felt tip style liner, and I find these are the easiest type to use.

Next you will need an individual post-it note, tear away around the blue line, the smaller it is, the easier it is to fit where you want the flick against your eye.

Then, place the post-it  note in line with your lower lash line, but underneath all your eyelashes and at the slant you want the flick. This is so when you open your eye the post-it doesn't pull half of your eyelashes out, and speaking from experience here, it is an uncomfortable process.

Basically, you just trace your upper lash line following out along the paper as far as you want to go. I'm
gunna say leave it for a few seconds, probably for about 10 just to let the liner dry. These pictures were before I decided to rip the post-it smaller and as you can see it was causing mass aggravation.

There we go, I saw the error of my ways and made the post-it small and cute, much easier.

Don't worry too much if that turns out a little messy, that bit doesn't show up. And if it does wrap a pencil end in a make up wipe or whatever and neaten it up.
Final step, after a few seconds, peel off the post-it (slowly) and Voila!
Perfect flicks everytime!

You are so welcome xo

A Very Different Sort of Photography

Backtracking on the fashion posts, I decided to do a cheeky photography post. And as my final exhibitions are currently being put together, it means I am getting a chance to go back through all my work over the past year, which is actually really jokes because I keep discovering old shoots I've forgotten about. This particular shoot I am blogging about is controversial, but extremely appropriate given recent headlines....

Even if you didn't watch Eurovision this year, which I'm guessing you didn't as most normal people don't, you must have seen who won. The only person I know who actively watches it every year is Noah Levy, classic. So just in case you have no idea who I'm talking about, here he(she) is...

Thomas Neuwirth better known as his drag 'persona' Conchita Wurst
Austrian Singer and Winner of Eurovision 2014
I feel like he looks like a bearded Kardasian?

Anyway, the reason I'm sharing all this Eurovision trash is because the shoot I did was based on an artist called Leeland Bobbe, who actively supports drag acts. He is a relatively new photographer, with quite contemporary work, but the work I became most familiar with was called 'Half Drag.' Which was a series of shots, where a variety of men are photographed half in make up and half clean faced.
So here are a few of his collection:

Miss Fame © Leland Bobbé

The transformation is wild!!
Anyway, got a little sidetracked going back through his work, so you get the general idea. My shoot plan was to combine Bobbe's work with the classsic shots of David Bailey, Vogue's personal own. But in particular, his shots of Jean Shrimpton. Seeing as I'm giving examples for all of this, here's a few of Shrimpton, looking ravishing as ever.

So I thought to myself... who's a guy, who's pretty, and who is extremely comfortable with himself? Obviously it had to be Oli Savage, and what a beauty he turned out to be.
So, I have babbled on long enough, here are a few of my final shots, enjoy!

Well there you go, now you are all as aware of Oli's beauty as I am...
Huuuuuge shoutout to Oli for being a fabulous and very cooperative model, you make a great Jean Shrimpton.
